Mass
Today we celebrated a lovely last mass for the school year. You were so helpful and patient with your kindergarten buddies. Congratulations to all the students at St. Nicholas who celebrated the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.

Father John mentioned some exciting family activities St. George has planned over the summer. Stay tuned!

Math
Super job building your skeletons and nets of pyramids and prisms. We had a few students build octagon-based, dodecagon-based pyramids and pentagon-based prisms. WOW! Tomorrow you will communicate the properties of your 3-D shapes (faces, bases, vertices, edges) and that's it for Geometry in grade four!
Review of algebra is next.

Social Studies
Over the next few days you will be taking your research and using it to write paragraphs about each sub-topic. Before you start your paragraph, read over your research carefully. What word or idea is repeated throughout your research? That is usually the MAIN IDEA. For example, in the research I showed you on the environment of ancient Maya, farming came up A LOT. You must know the main idea to write your topic sentence. My topic sentence was:

In ancient Maya, farming was an important use of the environment.

The rest of the paragraph should be about how they used the natural landforms for farming. Basically putting the research in sentences in your own words. Remember to keep it simple. One idea per sentence.
