Use base ten blocks to model the three multiplication questions in this problem. Remember... repeated addition is just multiplication.
First find the number of slices you need if each person gets 3 slices.
28 x 3 = 20 x 3 + 8 x 3 or 2 tens x 3 + 8 ones x 3
Next find how many pizzas you need to order. Hint.... you'll probably have to order extra!
Finally, multiply the number of pizzas by $9.00 (the cost per pizza).
Practice... for now, multiply the tens, then the ones, then add. Try doing all of these using mental math!
