Beautiful mass today to celebrate Ash Wednesday. Father John asked about the three things we are asked to do during this Lent season and I saw so many of you raise your hands to answer him... BRAVO!
I loved how Father John asked about what everyone was planning to give up to spend more time with God. It is a sacrifice to give up a favourite food like chocolate, but spending less time on electronics is a super idea. Use the extra twenty minutes to say a decade of the rosary or just close your eyes and talk to God.
Father also mentioned that another way to "give alms" is by doing service. This fits in wonderfully with our jellybean jar of good deeds.
So I am asking each of you tonight to think about the sacrifice you are going to make to grow closer to God. Print it neatly on the footprint and colour your footprint creatively. Our journey through Lent begins one step at a time.
Math
Half the class will be bringing home a mental math game to play and a pair of dice. Please make sure you return the game. I am missing 5 "Race to 150" games. If you have one at home, bring it back so that your classmates can practice.
Literacy
Using feedback to improve written answers is hard work. I was so pleased how everyone was asking questions and was open to correcting their answers. You are becoming very responsible students with good initiative.
Happy Birthday to Logan and Andrew!
