Literacy
Today we  continued with the wonderful story of "The Librarian of Basra". With a little prompting you came up with some terrific main ideas or big ideas. Remember, a good main idea is something that the story was taught you or words of wisdom that can be applied to your life. When you write your response this evening, make sure you use APE format.
A - the big idea / author's message (only need to choose the one you think is the best)
P - the proof in the text that made you think this was a good message. Try to find at least pieces of evidence or proof.
E - explain why the proof shows your message.

An APE answer should be written in complete sentences and should be at least a paragraph long (5 sentences).

If you did not finish the character questions for Alia, please make sure it is done tonight.

Math
Great job constructing double bar graphs.
Explain to your parents why someone might want to use a double bar graph instead of two single bar graphs.
How did you choose the scale? What number did you look at? What did you have to count on the graph paper?

Social Studies
What are some map features we looked at today?
What is a spirit bear and why was it chosen as the animal for British Columbia?
Tomorrow we will be working to complete a mind-map to summarize the first chapter. We spent a little longer on this chapter, which will make the next chapters easier. You've already learned so much .... natural resources, industries, physical features, climate....
