Literacy
Share the poem "The Long-Haired Boy" with your parents. What is the message of the poem? Can you make a connection with another text that we read?

Social Studies
One more paragraph left to write about an environmental issue in one of Canada's regions. In the last paragraph we remind the reader of the purpose of our letter and leave the reader with something to think about.

Math
Some of you worked very hard to complete Skills Bank. Review how you show division as repeated subtraction. That seemed to be a tricky question for some of you. Chapter Review tomorrow! Please keep practice your times tables. Today I tested you on the nine times table. We learned three different strategies for the nines. It should be a fairly easy to remember. Tomorrow I'll test you on the six times table.

Science
Today we did some fun investigations that actually told us a lot about how sound travels.
  • When you dropped the paper clip, did the sound travel in one direction more than another?
  • What did the sound travel through in the second investigation?
  • Did the strumming of the comb sound the same in air, through the desk and in water?
  • How was it different?
Tomorrow we have our presentation on Sound Sense. We have a guest speaker from Western University coming in to talk to us about protecting our ears and the dangers of some sounds.

For homework, use the link below and the diagram in your book to write in your own words how you hear.

Finish your observations and results for the two investigations using your Science textbook as a guide.
